Set and costume design is the lynchpin of a production, transporting the actors from the theatre stage to a completely different place, time or even world. Adam Mitchell, director of our upcoming production Boy Gets Girl, chose the fresh, new talent Fiona Bruce as the set and costume designer for this show.
Our upcoming production Boy Gets Girl is a stalker thriller by American playwright Rebecca Gilman. Perth actor Alison van Reeken plays the main character, Theresa, who meets Tony on a blind date, realises they arent meant to be and ends it, but Tony wont give up.
Six writers have been shortlisted from the pool of entries for the Richard Burton Award for Playwriting, created by Sally Burton in association with Black Swan State Theatre Company. These shortlisted writers will now create and submit a treatment for a proposed new work, out of which two will be awarded commissions. With a prize pool of $30,000, the Richard Burton Award for Playwriting is one of the richest in Australia.
Adam Mitchell, the director of our upcoming production Boy Gets Girl, has done several shows with Black Swan in the past, including 2011s acclaimed When The Rain Stops Falling, and the HotBed Ensemble productions including The Shape of Things and pool (no water).
