Black Swan is your state theatre company and we are committed to engaging and supporting regional Western Australia. Our ambition is to match the beauty and boldness of the state that we call home. We support regional artists and regional arts practice and are reaching out today, in the hope that you will support Regional Arts Australia’s campaign for increased funding to the Regional Arts Fund (RAF).
In a place as vast as Western Australia, we have countless stories to tell, and we know the importance of sharing our voices across diverse communities. It has been our pleasure to share mainstage works with regional audiences across WA, most recently with The Lighthouse Girl and Skylab. The arts are well and truly alive and thriving in the regions.
8.8 million Australians who live outside of the metropolitan cities are creative, productive and thriving. We have highlighted a few of these extraordinary talents in our Ambassador feature below. Increasing funding to the Regional Arts Fund will enable more support, better outcomes and stronger communities across Australia.
Regional Arts Australia is calling for an increase of at least $2 million per year to the Regional Arts Fund. We need your support.
We are calling all regional arts champions – YOU! We need you to energise your communities and let our elected representatives know that regional arts matter and deserve to be valued.
Help us and get involved this election period and Vote 1 Regional Arts!
Here's how you can help.
Write a letter. Contacting a Minister's office is one of the most effective ways to make your voice heard. When they see their constituents voice their concern about an issue, they take notice. Download letter templates here to address to Mitch Fifield, Minister for Communication and the Arts and Tony Burke, Shadow Minister of the Arts.
Spread the word. Whether you're an artist, an arts worker or an arts lover, use the hashtags #Vote1RegionalArts and #RegionalArts on social media. Contact Regional Arts Australia and ask for a Vote 1 Regional Arts Pack - they'll send you a collection of postcards, badges and bumper stickers so you can spread the word in your community.
Let’s work together to support regional arts across the country!
