There are a few things you should know when gearing up to have a great night out at the theatre.
Make sure you arrive with enough time to collect your tickets and meet up with friends or family prior to the show start time.
Some shows have a lock-out which means after the show start time you may not be able to gain entry till a little later, during a scene change or at interval. Plan your bathroom breaks as once you exit the auditorium during the performance, you may not be allowed back in. This rule can vary from show to show so ask one of the friendly ushers for the low down.
Be aware of the comfort of others during the show. Ensure your mobile phone is turned off or on silent as it is distracting to the cast and other audience members. Lolly wrappers and crisp packets can make a lot of noise too, so be mindful when consuming these in the auditorium.
In saying that, don’t be shy to express how you really feel during the show. Laughter, tears and applause are all part of the live theatre experience and your response feeds into the actor’s performance.
Photographs and Videos
We encourage you to take photos and videos in the beautiful foyers at the State Theatre Centre and in the auditorium and tag #blackswanstc #wheretheheartis. However, once the show has commenced please do not take photos and respect the intellectual property of the artists and creatives involved.
