SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Facilitated by teaching artists who are leaders in their field and designed to support teachers in the delivery of the WA Drama Curriculum our workshop program is available as an excursion to the State Theatre Centre of WA or in the comfort of your own classroom.

  • Working with Text – extend skills through monologues, scene work or directing workshops.
  • The Actor’s Instrument – refine performances skills through vocal and physical training.
  • Devising – learn improvisation and physical theatre techniques.
  • Original Solo Performances – hone skills in writing and performing solo performances, ideal preparation for ATAR/WACE examinations.
  • Design – explore set, costume, lighting and sound processes used in theatre-making.

WORK EXPERIENCE INTENSIVES (METRO)

Collaborate with like-minded peers and industry professionals in Black Swan’s 2-day theatre bootcamps.

Aligned with productions of The Glass Menagerie (August) and Oil (November) these immersive programs are open to students in Years 10-12 who want to explore creative industry pathways and/or refine performance and theatre making skills.

Participation includes masterclasses, theatre tour and tickets to view The Glass Menagerie and/or Oil at State Theatre Centre of WA

Venue: Middar Room, State Theatre Centre WA

Cost: $50 per student

OIL (Term 4)

Friday 18 Nov (9.30am - 4pm)

Saturday 19 Nov (10.00am – 4pm)

Venue: Rehearsal Room 1, State Theatre Centre WA

Cost: $50 per student

WORK EXPERIENCE INTENSIVES (BUNBURY)

Access arts processes, cultivate new perspectives on career pathways, refine skills with Black Swan.

This immersive 1-day theatre bootcamp is open to students in Years 10-12 who want to explore creative industry pathways and/or refine performance and theatre making skills.

Participation includes backstage theatre tour, performance workshops and Q&A with industry professionals.

Date: Wednesday 31 August (9.30- 3.30pm)

Venue: Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre

Cost: $25 per student

Student Ambassadors 2022

Black Swan Theatre Company’s Ambassador Program seeks four students in Years 10-12 who are passionate about theatre (including arts administration, production, and design).

This is an opportunity to provide input to the company from a youth perspective, to attend exclusive masterclassess and events that will grow leadership and advocacy skills.

We encourage and embrace differences, and the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Nominate a Student

  1. Nominate ONE student in Years 10 -12.
  2. Download, fill out the form and email it to Black Swan's Creative Learning Manager - christie@bsstc.com.au (Subject line: Ambassador 2022)

Submissions close Friday 3 December, 5pm.

Applications with be assessed by a panel of Black Swan staff and Teacher Advisory Group. Successful applicants will be notified by email.

Ambassadors will each receive x2 complimentary tickets to Previews of the Black Swan 2022 Season.
