Today Black Swan staff were treated to a full read of what was to be our fourth live staged production of York.
Co-created by Resident Artists Ian Michael and Chris Isaacs, the play, set in and around a single old abandoned hospital, moves through time to uncover the buried histories we have built over. Traversing four different eras, this daring new work sheds light on how our stories are told – and who tells them.
Starting with a smoking ceremony performed by Vaughn McGuire, the cast and creatives performed a spirited rendition of the work commencing the first day of 4 weeks of creative development. During this period, the cast and creatives will work together rehearsing, visit York township to meet with community members and the historical sites the play is based on, and further develop the creative elements of the production.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, York will not be staged as part of our 2020 season but you can still follow updates on the creative development of the production over the coming weeks via our social media accounts.
